Easiest Way to Get Feathers?

I've totally frustrated myself running after those d*mn birds wildly swinging my axe that I have just given up on making arrows at all. Even if I do manage to kill them their feathers go flying all over the place and have I have to run after them spamming my "collect" key. Trying to hit them with a thrown spear or arrow is even harder since the hit box on them is horrible.

Is there an easier way of collecting feathers that I'm missing out on?

Birds are attracted to certain spots. If you see some birds clustered together on the ground, approach and endless amounts of birds will land there and immediately fly away. You can just stand at those spots with a spear and stab birds as soon as they land, never having to wait more than a few seconds for more birds to spawn.

Both previous suggestions are what i do. But i did see on youtbe a dude killed a geese and everytime he hit the carcass it gave a feather. i havent been able to do this in my game though to prove it works

I've killed geese on the pond where they land... they seem to sink!?! When I swim down I can see there are like 4 or 5 feathers on each corpse but I can't collect them...

I farm seagulls on the island a short distance away from the beach by the big shipping containers. I managed to collect 177 feathers attacking them from evening to dawn. If you use the bone spear it is easier to grab feather after killing the bird, but you have to stab attack it right after it lands and does its little wave flap animation. Otherwise the plane axe is great at taking out birds with its normal slicing attack. Bring Soda or energy mix for when you get tired though, and watch out for sharks on the swim over if you dont use a raft.

Kill a cannibal and throw the body down somewhere and normally you will get birds landing on the body. Works most of the time.

Kill a cannibal, then just sit and wait next to his body. A ton of birds will land on it to feed then just pick them off one at a time. You will have to run after the feathers but it's not so bad when your killing 4 or 5 birds at a time.
